Pie Cake
Inspired by the video Elizabeth Crane emergency e-mailed me of the Cherpumple, “the dessert version of the Turducken,” I baked a cherry pie into a double fudge cake and covered it with chocolate fudge frosting and coconut. (Left image by Veronica Arreola.)
Unfortunately, we neglected to take any video and then neglected to leave any cake as evidence, so these pictures, and any testimonials left in the comments section below, are all that remain of the experience.
I should also mention that we haven’t yet come up with a clever name for this dessert, since it isn’t made with any of the original Cherpumple ingredients—which I believe to be a horrible combination of tastes, by the way, however strong the content itself—but I’m not sure it’s necessary.
You don’t need brand identity, people, when you’ve baked a pie into a cake.
