I Don’t Know What to Do with Myself
but I know I can take apart these jeans
I’ve started a new performance/endurance project called Garment Work at the Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei. Inspired by this story—you’ll note that the manufacturers are based in both Germany and the US—my meetings with the garment workers in Cambodia, and recent personal events, I’ve decided to return these jeans to their constituent pieces, by hand, for very little money, and under the shittiest of factory conditions.
OK, maybe not the shittiest: some days it is cooler than 100 degrees Fahrenheit in there.
